40-year-old woman found dead in Canberra city hotel

UPDATE: ACT Policing advises that while police continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident, the woman’s death does not appear to be suspicious. A report will be prepared for the coroner. 


A 40-year-old Canberra woman has been found dead in a Civic hotel earlier today.

Police were called to a hotel on Akuna Street at about 11.15am today, Thursday 24 August, after staff located a woman believed to be deceased.  

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics attended and confirmed the woman had died some time earlier and an investigation was commenced.  

At this time, police are considering all avenues of enquiry and will await the outcome of an autopsy.
