63-year-old woman caught more than five times over the limit after collision

A 63-year-old Kaleen woman has been charged with Level 4 drink driving following a collision on Friday, 3 December.

About 10.15am on Friday, ACT Police, ACT Ambulance Service (ACTAS) and ACT Fire & Rescue members attended a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Baldwin Drive and Maribyrnong Avenue in Kaleen.

Police spoke to the female driver of one of the vehicles, a white Holden Commodore. She appeared to be highly intoxicated.

Police also spoke with several witnesses to the incident. They stated the Commodore was driving erratically, hitting kerbs and swerving to the wrong side of the road prior to the collision.

The woman was examined by ACTAS members and transported to The Calvary Hospital for further treatment for minor injuries.

Once at the hospital a compulsory blood sample of the woman’s blood was obtained. Analysis of the sample indicated a concentration of 0.294 grams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Earlier today, Monday 20 December police issued the woman with an Immediate Suspension Notice suspending her ACT drivers licence for 90 days and she has been summonsed to attend the ACT Magistrates Court in March 2022.
