80-year-old man dies in Goulburn motorcycle crash

An eighty-year-old man has died after a motorcycle crash in the Goulburn area yesterday afternoon.

About 3pm Saturday 29 January, officers from The Hume Police District were notified of a man that had gone for a motorcycle ride but had not been seen since earlier that day.

A 52-year-old man told police that he was out riding with his friend – an 80-year-old man – from Goulburn to Crookwell, when he arrived at Goulburn and noticed his friend was no longer following him.

A search commenced for the rider in the surrounding area and just before 6pm, police located a motorcycle that had crashed on Range Road, Goulburn.

The body of the 80-year-old man was located near the motorcycle.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash commenced.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
