$80m Gold Creek aged care, retirement developments approved

Approval for an $80 million development at Gold Creek Homestead has officially been given the green light.

The development will be an extension to the adjoining The Grove Retirement Village in Ngunnawal, and an additional residential aged care facility has also been approved.

Developed by Lendlease, the project is set to include a separate 124-bed residential aged care facility delivered by Arcare Aged Care.

Forty-five new two- and three-bedroom independent villas with internal garage access and private covered alfresco entertaining will be delivered in The Grove extension.

The construction of the two developments will create technical and trade jobs, and operational jobs at the completion for the aged care facility and retirement village.

General manager of development VIC/ACT Lendlease, John Bruzzaniti, said the approval from local government brings the company one step closer to “delivering a vibrant, intergenerational community”.

Mr Bruzzaniti said he intends the new development to be sustainable, inclusive, and will build on the existing connection with the local area.

“The new precinct will also help meet the high demand for independent living retirement homes and residential aged care in Canberra,” he said.

Construction is expected to begin mid-2023 and new villas will be available for purchase later this year.
