Cook with Matt Preston
Ikea has teamed up with chef and MasterChef judge Matt Preston for a cooking workshop at the Canberra store. The workshop will take guests through a series of recipes created exclusively for Ikea, using ingredients from the Swedish Market to create recipes with Scandi flavours fused with hints of hint of Mexican, Italian and Vietnamese.
The workshops will be held on Friday 24 May 10-11am and 1.30-2.30pm at Ikea Canberra. To register, visit events.ikea.com/au/en/events/#/store/canberra

The Canberra Environment Centre is running a series of workshopsthroughout May and June with a focus on sustainability:
Making kimchi: Learn how to make your own kimchi with Evangeline Lam from Barcode Food, and learn about the benefits of fermented foods for gut health. Saturday 18 May 2-2.30pm, $35.
Making beeswax wraps: Join artist Anette Boyd who will guide you in making your own beeswax wraps to take home and use as an alternative to cling wrap. Thursday 6 and 13 June 6-8pm, $60 (includes materials).
Bokashi composting: Bokashi expert Rosemary Ryan will teach you everything you need to know to get started with Bokashi composting, which uses a preparation of microbes to break down food scraps. Tuesday 18 June 6-7.30pm, $30.

It’s high time for Pie Time
Visitors to the NSW Southern Highlands (or Pie-lands) during June will find a range of pie-themed happenings, with events, festivals, tours and activities celebrating Pie Time 2019. This year’s month-long pie celebration will see a range of new events, including a pie, wine and stargazing evening, pies and zip-lining, a pie-themed train trip, sparkling wines with matched pies, a pie painting event and more. Returning events include PieFest, the NSW/ACT Best Pie Competition and a range of pie tours and events.

This one’s for the vegans
San Churro has expanded their vegan menu, with the addition of their new vegan milk chocolate. Containing 37% cocoa, it is available in over 11 new menu items and has been given the tick of approval from San Churro’s goodwill partner, PETA. New vegan treats include the ‘velvety vegan’ hot chocolate and the ‘Queen Vegan’ churros snack pack. Now available in San Churro stores Australia-wide.
