Collingwood defender Nathan Murphy has been charged with misconduct and fined for pulling down No.1 draft pick Aaron Cadman’s shorts.

Murphy’s action led to GWS forward Cadman having his buttocks exposed when the pair tumbled over the boundary line during the second quarter of Sunday’s game at the MCG.

Cadman retaliated by shoving his opponent and was penalised a free kick.

It capped a tough day for the 19-year-old, who had just seven disposals in his fifth game for the Giants as they suffered a 65-point defeat.

On Monday, the AFL match review officer handed Murphy a $1500 fine, which can be reduced to $1000 with an early guilty plea.

It was the second misconduct charge out of round nine after Carlton captain Patrick Cripps received the same penalty for tugging Western Bulldogs midfielder Bailey Smith’s hair.
