Say “I love you” to a special person in your life with these simple Valentine’s Day craft ideas.
Valentine’s gift bag
What you’ll need
- Paper gift bags (red, pink, white or craft)
- Acrylic paint
- Medium paint brush
- Water for cleaning paint brushes
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Double-sided tape or foam tape
- Scissors
- Pom poms
- Paper pads and plain card stock
Method
Open up your paper bags so they can stand upright.
Lay out all your materials so you can see everything you have to decorate your bags with.
Use paint brush to paint brush strokes to decorate a bag. This doesn’t need to be perfect; the natural brush stroke looks nice by itself or you can paint a particular design if you like. Be careful not to use too much paint as the paper bag may soften. Allow to dry.
Turn on the hot glue gun and glue pom poms onto a bag in a random pattern or in a particular design such as a love heart or the letter of your Valentine’s name.
Lastly, cut out various paper shapes or letters using scissors and stick onto bags using either the double-sided tape or foam tape if you would like to create a 3D effect.
Once your bags are finished, fill with goodies and give to your loved ones.
Valentine’s dry erase board
What you’ll need
- Glass front picture frame
- Card stock
- Coloured paper
- Mod Podge
- Acrylic paint
- Dry erase marker
- Die cutting tool (heart shaped)
- Lettering stencils
- Paint brush
Method
Pop out the back of the picture frame.
Cut the card stock to fit inside the frame.
Use the die cutter to cut out a small handful of hearts from several shades of coloured paper.
Stick the hearts to the card stock using Mod Podge. Overlap the hearts so they cover the card, creating a collage.
Coat the collage in Mod Podge to secure the cuttings. Allow to dry.
Place the lettering stencils in the desired formation on top of the collage.
Use paint and a brush to fill in the stencils. Allow to dry.
Place the completed collage inside the frame and secure the back.
Write your message on the glass in dry erase marker.
Helpful hints
- A paint pen can be used instead of a dry erase marker for longer lasting words. Just use water and a cloth to scrub it off.
- Cuttings can shift during crafting. This can be patched after the first coat of Mod Podge dries.
