Inside & out: Reduce linen from landfill

The latest in news, trends and happenings for the home.

Diverting linen from landfill

Sheridan is aiming to reduce the amount of bed linen and towels going to landfill through the Sheridan Recycling Program. Customers are invited to return any branded old quilt covers, sheets and towels to Sheridan Boutique and Studio stores, including Sheridan Manuka.

Sheridan will recycle these items and turn them into new products that will be sold across stores later in the year. The recycling program launched on 20 February and runs to 20 March, to understand the volume of materials that will be returned before a larger scale program can be rolled out.

Canberra Harvest Festival

The Canberra Environment Centre will be celebrating Canberra’s bounty of local and sustainable food at the Canberra Harvest Festival on Saturday 23 March 2-6pm. This free, family-friendly event also provides an opportunity to participate in free workshops to help you reduce your ecological footprint. Throughout the day, visitors can get a taste of SustainAbility workshops including keeping backyard chickens, growing mushrooms, improving your compost, understanding solar, electric fences and home energy efficiency.
