29-year-old man charged with stabbing and assault in ACT

A 29-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly stabbing another man, and assaulting his ex-girlfriend and frontline community service members in the early hours of Monday morning.

About 1.30am on Monday 3 July, the man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home.

ACT Policing will allege the man used a knife to stab another man in the home and punched the woman in the face before fleeing.

ACTAS Paramedics responded to treat the duo before transporting the male victim to hospital for further medical treatment.

About 2.30am today, Thursday 6 July, police located the alleged offender at a service station. When the man produced identification that did not belong to him, and officers attempted to arrest him, he allegedly assaulted one police officer and fled the scene on foot.

A second officer engaged in a short foot pursuit, and arrested the man. During the arrest, the man allegedly assaulted the second officer.

The man has been charged with two counts of intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary with the intent to cause harm, two counts of assaulting frontline community service providers, possessing a knife without reasonable excuse, and possessing a licence issued to another.
