Wimbledon school collision not terror-related: police

Several people have been injured after a car crashed into a school building in London’s Wimbledon as police say the collision was not terror-related.

Police officers were called to the school at Camp Rd in south London just before 10am on Thursday.

“We are not treating this incident as terror-related,” London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

“An investigation is under way to understand the full circumstances of what has taken place.”

Ambulance workers and fire brigade services were also on the scene and several people were being treated, police said.

The Study Prep Wimbledon, also known as Wilberforce House, which is located on Camp Rd, declined to comment when asked about the incident.

Camp Rd is about 1.5km from the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club where the Wimbledon Grand Slam championship is currently taking place.
