5yo boy seriously injured after Monash playground assault

ACT Policing is seeking assistance to identify a teenager who allegedly assaulted a 5-year-old boy at a Monash playground.

Between 4.30pm and 5pm, Friday 25 August, a family was visiting Monash Park Playground, near Charleston Street, where the teenager was allegedly riding erratically in the local drains and parklands.

The teen reportedly headed towards the playground and assaulted the 5-year-old boy while riding the motorised bike before fleeing the scene. The boy was seriously injured and transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics.

The teenager was allegedly riding a black and white mountain bike with ‘whipper snipper’ style engine fitted under the seat.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have information about any teenagers with motorised pushbikes in the surrounding region.
