Starting swimming lessons

The age your child starts can lead to different experiences. Starting before age 1 is a great way to create very natural affinity with the water. Parents will also be in the water during baby levels, which most really enjoy. Starting around age 3 will see them dive straight into swimming solo, which can cause some added nerves for children at first, but is still a suitable age to build a confident swimmer over time. Starting closer to school age can sometimes be challenging, as children are more concious and aware of the situation. Although there is no “wrong age” to get started, “the younger, the better” is true in most cases.

There are purpose-built, learn to swim facilities which provide a great experience. Many of these are fully-indoor, with private amenities catering perfectly for young families. Indoor facilities also provide year-round swimming which is great for ensuring the comfort of young swimmers.

Baby play, or a free trial session can be great ways to test the readiness of you and your child before booking into lessons. Book online or contact a local swim school.
