Learner motorcyclist caught travelling 167km/h on Majura Parkway

A Queanbeyan learner motorcyclist will be summonsed to face the ACT Magistrates Court after being detected travelling at almost 170km/h.

About 6.40pm on Sunday 17 December, ACT Road Policing were conducting speed enforcement on the Majura Parkway when they detected the 20-year-old man riding at 167km/h in the signposted 100km/h zone on the Majura Parkway.

The man was stopped by police and issued with an immediate suspension notice, suspending his right to drive in the ACT for 90 days.

His motorcycle, a Yamaha R7, was also seized due to exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 45km/h.

The man will be summonsed to face court at a later date, where he is expected to face driving charges and possibly licence disqualification, which would suspend his right to drive anywhere in Australia.
