Witnesses sought to Nowra police shooting that left man dead

Police are appealing for witnesses to a shooting in Nowra yesterday to come forward.

A critical incident investigation is underway following a police shooting in Nowra yesterday, Wednesday 10 January.

Just before 1pm, police were called to a medical clinic on Junction Street, Nowra, after reports a patient produced a firearm.

About 2.40pm, the 34-year-old man – armed with a firearm – came out of the premises and confronted officers.

He was shot and was immediately treated by officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.

There were no other injuries reported.

Police believe there were a number of people in the vicinity who may have witnessed the incident; they are appealing for those people to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.

The investigation will be subject to an independent review and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
