The ACT Government is seeking expressions of interest from contractors to deliver the $1 billion hospital on the North Canberra Hospital (former Calvary Public) campus in Bruce.

The new hospital will replace outdated infrastructure, featuring more treatment spaces, a larger emergency department, and advanced equipment, health minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said; the government is seeking a partner who shares their vison for a modern hospital with patients and staff at the centre of the design.

The delivery partner would support early planning, design and constructability for the project, as part of a very early contractor involvement (VECI) delivery model.

Expressions of interest are due by late June, and the successful partner will be announced later in the year. The government will assess the Expressions of Interest, then invite shortlisted tenderers to respond to the Request for Tender stage, described as “an interactive process to resolve an appropriate risk sharing regime to reflect the best value for money proposition for the Territory”.

Ms Stephen-Smith said the tender is an exciting opportunity to be part of Canberra’s largest-ever health infrastructure project.

“Canberra’s northside will continue to grow in the coming decades. Planning now for a bigger, modern hospital will provide Canberrans with access to more health services, closer to home.”
