ACT Policing seek to identify alleged Beard burnout driver in banana costume

ACT Policing is seeking to identify a male involved in an alleged burnout incident in Beard overnight, where about 9.10pm on Friday 21 June, police responded to reports of a man struck by a wheel from a vehicle reportedly engaged in burnouts at Copper Crescent. 

About 9.10pm on Friday, 21 June 2024, police were called to attend Copper Crescent, Beard following reports a man had been struck by a wheel which had come loose from a vehicle allegedly doing burnouts at the location.

ACT Ambulance Service paramedics attended the scene a short time later, and treated a 21-year-old man before transporting him to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police would like to speak to the alleged driver of the vehicle involved in this incident, who is believed to have been wearing a banana costume and a balaclava at the time.

He is understood to have been driving a gold Ford Falcon sedan covered in graffiti.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have mobile phone footage of the incident, who has not already spoken to police.
