Charnwood stabbing: ACT Policing investigate teen group’s involvement

ACT Policing is seeking information following a stabbing that occurred in Charnwood last month.

About 5:10pm on Wednesday 23 October, a man was approached by a group of approximately 10 people – believed to be teenagers – as he approached the underpass at Cartwright Street, Charnwood.

Following a short argument between the group and the man, a 16-year-old boy allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the man in his hand and shoulder.

The group fled the area prior to police arrival, while the victim was assisted by members of the public. He was conveyed to hospital a short time later with serious injuries.

Last week, Tuesday 29 October, police executed a search warrant at the 16-year-old boy’s residence where he was subsequently arrested. He was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Police have already spoken to a number of witnesses, however would still like to speak to anyone else who witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to police. This includes anyone with information regarding the identity of others in the group involved.

The group are believed to have arrived in the vicinity of the Charnwood Shops as early as 4pm that day.
