Wanniassa man on parole arrested after Franklin burglary

A 46-year-old Wanniassa man is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning, following allegations of a burglary at a Franklin residence on Monday 18 November.

At approximately 2:40pm, the man allegedly forced entry into the property by tampering with the front door handle and took items belonging to the residents. The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which later assisted police in their investigation.

The residents reported the burglary to police later that day. Shortly after, two other victims reported similar incidents, stating that their front door handles had been tampered with and their homes ransacked.

Police reviewed the CCTV footage from the Franklin property, which led them to locate and arrest the 46-year-old man. He has been charged with burglary and breaching parole conditions.

Police are also appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the suburbs of Franklin and Harrison on Monday, including anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage from around the area, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7904612.
