Woman charged following stabbing in Queanbeyan

A woman has been charged following an alleged stabbing in Queanbeyan earlier this week.

Around 7:50pm on Monday 2 December, emergency services were called to a home on Mowatt Street, Queanbeyan, after reports of a stabbing. Officers from the Monaro Police District arrived to find a 58-year-old man with stab wounds to his arm.

Police were informed that the injuries were allegedly inflicted by a woman who had left the scene before officers arrived.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and later transported to Queanbeyan Hospital for further treatment. A crime scene was established, and police began investigating the incident.

Following inquiries, at about 4pm on Wednesday 4 December, officers from the Monaro Region Enforcement Squad arrested a 34-year-old woman on Crawford Street, Queanbeyan.

She was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The woman appeared before Queanbeyan Local Court on Thursday 5 December, where she was refused bail. She is scheduled to reappear at the same court on Monday 3 February 2025.
