Man charged after shooting at four men near ACT border

A 20-year-old man has been charged following an incident that occurred near the ACT border in Coree yesterday afternoon.

Around 4:30pm Saturday 11 January, the man was in company with four other men known to him around Uriarra. Police will allege that following a verbal disagreement, the man retrieved a firearm and used it to shoot at the four men multiple times.

The four men then fled the scene and were able to hide and dial 000. Police arrived a short time later and commenced an operation to rescue the men, and locate and arrest the alleged offender.

During the operation, police located the four men on the property and moved them to safety. None of the males were injured in the incident.

Just after 10pm police located the alleged offender riding a quad bike attempting to exit the property and he was subsequently arrested.

The 20-year-old has been charged with four counts of discharging a loaded firearm causing a person fear.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
