A 24-year-old man is set to face court after allegedly assaulting his partner with a weapon and hot water over the weekend.
At approximately 8am on Saturday 11 January, the man and his partner were involved in an argument at their residence in Richardson. Police allege he then assaulted her using a frying pan, damaged property with a hammer, and forced her to the ground while strangling her.
The man allegedly proceeded to pour hot water on the woman. When she attempted to leave the residence with a young child, he reportedly threatened her dog.
The incident was reported to police on the same day. After allegedly evading authorities, the man attended Tuggeranong Police Station around 8:30pm on Tuesday 14 January, where he was arrested.
He has been charged with multiple family violence offences, including two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of aggravated common assault, and choking, suffocating, or strangling another person.
