Open-air music gig to hit Canberra this summer

Canberrans rejoice, as an outdoor music gig has just been announced for the national capital and it’s coming here in February next year.

The Cat Empire, John Butler, and Boy and Bear are just a few names in the stellar line-up for SummerSalt, set to hit Stage 88 on 27 February 2021.

Having played all around the world prior to COVID-19, The Cat Empire’s Felix Riebel said the Australian band were excited to hit the stage again.

“By the time we step on to the SummerSalt stage, it will have been 12 months since we have been on tour, so you cannot imagine how excited we are to play live again with this brilliant line-up of artists,” he said.

The line-up also boasts new kids on the block, The Teskey Brothers, after their 2020 Grammy nomination for their Run Home Slow album.

Emily Wurramara will also feature on stage, showing her unique singing and songwriting skills that had her nominated four times in the 2019 Queensland Music Award.

Gates to the event will open from 1.30pm, as bands get things started on stage from 2pm.

The event will be fully licensed and have food vendors and merchandise available for purchase on site.

Event facilitators, Zaccaria Concerts and Touring, said they have been in regular communication with state authorities regarding COVID-19, in a statement on the event website.

“COVID-19 Safety Plans have been prepared for each individual city. All events will be compliant with directions of each state’s Health Department,” it reads.

“Should any of the events be unable to proceed on the original advertised date, they will be moved to their respective planned backup dates.”

Tickets to the event will go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Tuesday 20 October, at 10am via Ticketmaster, starting at $69.90 for children and $109.90 for adults.
