Three more charged following Weston skate park murder

ACT Policing has charged a further three people with affray or affray and assault following the murder of an 18-year-old man at a skate park in Weston in September.

Officers were called to a disturbance at the skate park on Dillon Close about 1am on Sunday 27 September. Two people had received stab wounds – an 18-year-old man who died at the scene and a 16-year-old boy who was taken to hospital.

Police allege earlier in the evening, numerous young people became involved in sending threats online, and later sought to become involved in a fight.

An 18-year-old will face the ACT Children’s Court tomorrow, Friday 4 December, charged with affray (he was a juvenile at the time of the incident). An 18-year-old man and a 25-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with affray and assault.

Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said police allege everyone was involved in aggressive and threatening behaviour.

“Our investigation of what happened that night has resulted in a 16-year-old being charged with murder and we will continue to act on the available evidence to charge anyone who engaged in criminal behaviour that night,” Detective Superintendent Moller said.

The investigation remains ongoing and ACT Policing Criminal Investigations detectives anticipate further arrests.
