Teen boys face court for property crime and driving offences

Two thirteen-year-old boys, one of whom was on bail, will face the ACT Children’s Court this morning, Friday 4 December, charged in relation to a burglary in Rivett and subsequent driving offences.

About 2.10am police observed a silver Ford Focus being driven erratically in Alinga Street, Canberra City. The car was driven into the Civic Bus Interchange, where police directed the driver to stop. The driver failed to do so, and drove away at speed, through a red light.

About 2.20am, after the vehicle had been observed travelling at 150km/h in a 90km/h zone, the driver again failed to stop when directed. A short time later Police were able to stop the vehicle and apprehended the occupants.

After police apprehended the driver and his passenger, enquiries revealed the car had been stolen from a residence in Rivett earlier in the night, and the owner was unaware it had been stolen.

Both boys will appear in the ACT Children’s Court this morning.
