Manuka Oval to host Scorchers vs Heat Final

Manuka Oval will host its third final in under a week when the Perth Scorchers play the Brisbane Heat in Canberra on Thursday 4 February for a spot in the BBL Grand Final.

The Scorchers were set to host ‘The Challenger’ Final in Perth but the game was moved due to recent border restrictions placed around WA.

Manuka Oval has already hosted two finals so far, with the Scorchers falling to the Sixers and the Heat triumphing over the Thunder.

Despite Canberra not having its own BBL team, this will be the 12th match played at Manuka Oval this season, the most of any ground across the country.

The Heat have looked impressive in their two finals, easily accounting for the Strikers at the Gabba before a brilliant knock from Sam Heazlett lead them to a seven-wicket victory over the Thunder.

Due to difficulties around travel this season, the Scorchers have only hosted four games at Optus Stadium in Perth, winning all four with relative ease, so losing the home ground advantage could be costly.

The Scorchers and will now have to play at a ground where they have lost all three matches this season, including their most recent outing.

Meanwhile, the Heat have won two matches out of three at Manuka this season and will be full of confidence after their last start win at the ground.

The two sides split their two matches this season, with the Heat winning the most recent outing by just six runs on 26 January.

The winner of this match will face the Sixers in the Grand Final at the SCG on Saturday 6 February.
