Manuka Oval will no longer host the GWS Giants pre-season match after the AFL made the decision for all clubs to remain in their home states for the AAMI Community Series.
The Giants AFL side were set to face the Brisbane Lions at Manuka Oval but will instead play the Sydney Swans at Giants Stadium on Sunday 7 March at 1.10pm.
The pre-season encounter will be the second meeting in eight days between the two Sydney clubs after they played a practice match last weekend.
The teams met at Giants Stadium on Saturday 27 February to blow out some cobwebs before the official pre-season fixture.
Played in greasy conditions at Giants Stadium, both teams looked scrappy at times as the game ended in a 54-all draw.
The Giants website listed youngsters Tom Green and Tanner Bruhn as the standouts.
The Giants are still scheduled to play two AFL games at Manuka Oval in the early part of the season in round three against the Melbourne Demons and round six against the Western Bulldogs.
Giants AFLW side returning to Canberra
Despite the pre-season game being moved, Canberra will still see some footy this weekend.
Round six of the AFLW season sees the Giants return at Manuka Oval for the first time since 2019.
The Giants will take on the Lions this Saturday 6 March at 3.10pm in Canberra.
Coming off a 25-point loss to the Western Bulldogs last round, the Giants will need a win to stay in touch with the top six.
Sitting in 10th spot on the ladder with two wins and three losses, the Giants are just one game outside the finals.
They will have their work cut out for them this week with their opponents sitting in second spot on the ladder.
The Lions have won four of five matches this season with the only loss coming last round against the Adelaide Crows.
Tickets will be available via Ticketek on Thursday 4 March with AFLW members able to access their free ticket from 11am and tickets available for the general public from 12pm.
