Duo in stolen vehicle face court on multiple driving offences

ACT Policing arrested a 26-year-old Franklin man and a 23-year-old Batemans Bay woman yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 7 July, after they were observed in a stolen vehicle.

About 11.30am yesterday, police observed a white Nissan X-Trail with QLD registration plates travelling on Ginninderra Drive, Kaleen. Police checks revealed the registration plates did not belong to the vehicle, and both the vehicle and plates had been reported stolen earlier this week.

Police followed the vehicle through multiple northside suburbs onto Mulligans Flat Road where it entered NSW. A short time later the vehicle re-entered the ACT, and police were able to successfully deploy tyre-deflation devices.

The vehicle was stopped in Blizzard Circuit, Forde, where the driver and passenger were arrested.

The man will face charges of driving a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated dangerous driving, driving while suspended, using incorrect number plates, drug driving and failing to stop for police.

The woman will face charges of riding in a stolen motor vehicle.

Both will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Thursday 8 July.
