Australian swim star Emma McKeon is putting no limits on her Tokyo Olympics medal haul after adding a bronze to her collection.
McKeon’s 100m butterfly bronze on Monday follows her gold as part of Australia’s triumphant 4x100m freestyle relay team.
McKeon produced a personal best of 55.72 seconds in a ‘fly final won by Canadian Maggie MacNeil (55.59).
“To do a PB in an Olympic final, I’m pretty happy,” McKeon said.
“Really awesome.”
The Australian’s butterfly bronze comes on a gruelling program in Tokyo which could reap seven medals for the Wollongong-born allrounder.
She’s a genuine gold chance in both the individual 50m and 100m freestyles, with medal opportunities in three more relays.
McKeon now has an Olympic career haul of six medals – two golds, two silvers and two bronze.
Coached by the renowned Michael Bohl, McKeon was Australia’s most successful athlete at the 2016 Rio Olympics, with a freestyle relay gold, two other relay silvers and a bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Zhang Yufei from China pocketed the silver medal, while American Torri Huske was just one hundredth of a second behind McKeon in fourth place.
