Batemans Bay and Cooma record one new COVID-19 case each

The Deputy Premier of NSW John Barilaro has announced one new COVID-19 case in Batemans Bay and one in Cooma.

“In southern New South Wales, there were zero cases to 8:00pm last night but we’ve been notified this morning of two additional cases, one in Batemans Bay and one in Cooma,” said Mr Barilaro.

Mr Barilaro was only informed of the additional cases Wednesday morning, 8 September, with the Batemans Bay case a household contact of the existing case there.

Investigations are still ongoing into the source of the Cooma case.

Close contacts have been notified by NSW Health.

Mr Barilaro announced several venues of concern in both Batemans Bay and Cooma on Wednesday evening.

The cases were not included in today’s 1480 new cases in NSW and will instead be included in tomorrow’s numbers.
