Karabar drug raid uncovers cocaine, grow shed, THC-infused lollies

A 37-year-old Karabar man has been charged over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the Monaro region following a joint investigation by NSW Police and ACT Policing.

In August this year, officers from Monaro Police District, together with ACT Policing, established Strike Force Airtis to investigate the alleged cultivation and distribution of cannabis in the Queanbeyan area.

Following extensive inquiries, officers attached to Monaro Police District and Riverina Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant at a home on Pindari Crescent, Karabar, about 9am yesterday, Tuesday 14 September.

During a search of the premises, officers uncovered a sophisticated hydroponic grow room in a shed.

Police seized 20 cannabis plants and almost 60g of cocaine, with a combined estimated potential street value of $97,000.

Officers also located confectionary infused with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, where he was charged with cultivate prohibited plant and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional to appear in Queanbeyan Local Court on Thursday 11 November 2021.

As part of the operation, ACT Policing Criminal Investigations also conducted a search warrant in Calwell to identify any cross-border connections in this investigation.
