Queanbeyan records 14 new cases as Southern NSW outbreak continues

Queanbeyan has recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 out of 26 cases that were detected across Southern NSW in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

176 cases total have been detected by Southern NSW Local Health District since the start of the current outbreak in June.

There are 143 total active cases, six in hospital, while 33 cases have recovered.

Of the 14 new cases in the Queanbeyan-Palerang region (Googong, Karabar, Crestwood, Queanbeyan), three are linked and 11 are under investigation.

Three of the 26 cases were detected in Goulburn; one is linked to a known case and two are under investigation.

Five new cases are in the Snowy Monaro region (Jindabyne and Thredbo), with three linked to known cases and two under investigation.

Four new cases have been picked up in the Batemans Bay region (Narooma, Kianga, Moruya); three have been linked to known cases and one is under investigation.

Of the 143 total active cases in Southern NSW, there are 52 in the Queanbeyan region, 13 in the Yass region, 32 in the Eurobodalla shire, 36 in Goulburn, and seven in the Snowy Monaro region. Three active cases are no longer in district.

NSW Health said lockdowns would be extended until 11 October in 18 regional LGAs: Bathurst Regional, Bourke, City of Broken Hill, Central Coast, City of Cessnock, Dubbo Regional, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwaree, Kiama, City of Lake Macquarie, City of Lithgow, City of Maitland, City of Newcastle, Port Stephens, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional, City of Shellharbour, City of Shoalhaven, and Wingecarribee.

The Snowy Monaro LGA will be locked down from 3pm today (Thursday 30 September) for seven days, with the stay-at-home orders applying to anyone who has been in the LGA since 22 September.
