The ACT has recorded 31 new cases overnight, with 17 linked to existing cases or ongoing clusters and the remainder under early investigation.

Of the ACT’s 31 new cases, six were in quarantine for their entire infectious period while at least 17 spent some time in the community. Eight are still under investigation.

Ten people are now in hospital with or due to COVID-19, with three in intensive care all requiring ventilation.

Seven are unvaccinated, two partially vaccinated with one dose, and one fully vaccinated.

The youngest hospitalised is in their 30s, the oldest in their 80s.

One additional case has been admitted to hospital overnight who will be included in tomorrow’s numbers.

The total case number for the outbreak now stands at 835 with the total number recovered at 588, 21 more than yesterday, leaving 246 active cases.

3,485 tests were conducted yesterday, a “very strong number” according to Chief Minister Andrew Barr.

From today, Canberrans aged 60 up are eligible to make a booking for a Pfizer or Moderna mRNA jab.

Mixing vaccines is not approved in Australia. It is not possible to receive a Pfizer or Moderna second jab if you have already had a dose of AstraZeneca.

Mr Barr noted the Commonwealth Government are proposing mRNA booster shots “for everyone” next year.

Yesterday, more than 7,000 text messages were sent out to Canberrans with a Pfizer booking via an ACT Government-led clinic notifying them they could move their appointment forward if they wanted.

That resulted in 3,000 vaccination appointments being rescheduled to an earlier date.

More appointments are available for Pfizer and Moderna via GPs and pharmacies in the coming weeks.

“Please try and bring your booking forward,” Mr Barr said.
