ACT records 12 new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded 12 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night with 15 people in hospital with the virus.

The number of patients in Canberra hospitals with COVID-19 has fallen from 20 to 15, with nine in intensive care and five on a ventilator.

The total number of cases is now 1,607 since the start of the outbreak while 296 remain active.

Testing numbers have increased in the territory, with 1733 conducted in the last 24 hour period, new figures released on Tuesday show.

This comes after several days of low testing rates, which prompted concern amongst health authorities.

The ACT is quickly approaching the 90 per cent fully vaccinated mark with 89.3 per cent of residents aged over 12 now double dosed.

ACT Health will provide an epidemiological update on the COVID-19 situation tomorrow.
