Canberra Raiders 2022 NRL draw revealed: afternoon games aplenty

The Raiders 2022 NRL draw should provide fans the opportunity to bask in sunshine rather than freeze in the Canberra cold, with the club set to host a number of afternoon matches.

After just two day games at GIO Stadium in 2021, the Raiders will host six of their 11 Canberra games in the afternoon with matches against the Eels, Roosters, Knights, Warriors, Dragons and Sea Eagles.

The Raiders will kick start their season at GIO Stadium against the Cronulla Sharks on Friday 11 March at 6pm while their other Canberra matches are against the Titans, Cowboys, Bulldogs and Panthers.

Canberra’s remaining home game will be played at McDonalds Park in Wagga Wagga in round five against the Melbourne Storm.

Along with the home match in Wagga, the Raiders will also play two away games in regional NSW, taking on Manly in Mudgee and the Rabbitohs in Dubbo.

The Raiders will feature on free-to-air television eight times with the majority of those coming on Sunday afternoon.

Canberra have just one Thursday night game for the season, a round six match against the Cowboys at home.

The remaining channel nine matches are all on Sunday’s with no prime time Friday night matches all year.

Their Magic Round clash at Suncorp Stadium in round ten against the Sharks will be counted as one of their away fixtures.

The teams the Raiders play twice are the Sharks, Cowboys, Titans, Sea Eagles, Storm, Panthers, Knights, Dragons and Warriors. They play the Roosters, Bulldogs, Rabbitohs, Eels, Broncos and Tigers once each.
