ACT records just three new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded just three new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, Canberra’s lowest number since 15 August.

None of these new infections are linked to the Omicron outbreak in Canberra, which is now up to five confirmed cases.

There are five patients in hospital, with three of them in intensive care and one on a ventilator.

There are now just 85 active cases in the Canberra community with the total number of cases at 2,043.

Vaccination rates in the ACT have climbed to 98.1 per cent of people 12 and over in the capital being fully vaccinated.

Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said there had been a surge in testing in Canberra’s north as a result of the Omicron exposure sites.

There were 1149 negative tests conducted in the past day.
