Hughes man charged over child exploitation material

A 59-year-old man has been charged by ACT Policing with possession of child exploitation material after a home in Hughes was searched yesterday, 20 May.

Officers attached to the ACT Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (ACT-JACET) executed a search warrant and the man was subsequently arrested at the home and later charged with one count of possession of child exploitation material.

Electronic devices were seized during the search warrant and will be subject to further forensic examination.

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates court today, 21 May.

It is the second time in the last week a man has been arrested with possession of child exploitation material in Canberra and the surrounding areas after a 36-year-old man was arrested in Googong last Wednesday 13 May.
