Showers and laundry facilities are now available at the ACTESA information hub set up to help Canberrans after Monday’s devastating storm.
The facility at 27 Drake-Brockman Drive, Higgins – headquarters of the Molonglo ACT Rural Fire Service brigade – already offers charging stations for phones and mobile devices, ice packs to restock eskies, and a skip to dispose of spoilt food, as well as incident information and advice.
From today, three showers and three washers and dryers have been made available.
Opening hours have also been extended; the facility is open from 11am to 7pm. The facility will be open until Sunday.
The community will be told if these arrangements change.
Staff and volunteers at the facility can provide information for people who need food and other essential items.
Several local food pantries are providing assistance at this time. Details can be found in the Emergency and Food Relief Guide on the Volunteering ACT website.
Formal food and accommodation relief is available from the ACT Government if needed.
If you know anyone without power or access to social media or internet, please pass along this information.
