One new death, 1860 COVID-19 cases in the ACT

The ACT has recorded one new COVID-19 death and a daily high of 1,860 cases in the latest update.

The death is a woman in her 80s at a residential aged care facility and takes the ACT’s total COVID-19 death toll to 20.

Of the new cases, 976 came from PCR tests while 884 were from rapid antigen tests (RATs).

The number of patients in hospital has jumped to 63, six are in intensive care with two requiring ventilation.

There are 3,585 active COVID-19 cases in the ACT.

Canberra has now accrued 26,341 total COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020.

22,736 people have recovered from the virus in Canberra with 20 deaths.

The ACT has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country, with 98.6 per cent of those aged 12 and over having had two doses.

Of those residents aged 18 and over, 31.8 per cent have received their booster shot, while 30.2 per cent of residents aged 5-11 have received one dose.

Meanwhile, the Kambah testing clinic will continue distributing RATs to eligible people today.

Due to RAT supply constraints, people will only be able to pick up a single kit per person and cannot take additional kits for people not present.

COVID across Australia

NSW has reported a record 36 COVID-19 deaths and almost 30,000 cases.

Of the deaths; one person was aged in their 40s, two people were aged in their 50s, one person was aged in their 60s, 11 people were in their 70s, 12 people were in their 80s and nine people were in their 90s.
