ACT records two deaths, 756 COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded two deaths and 756 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the active number of infections to more than 5,000.

A man in his 40s and a man in his 90s died, taking the ACT’s COVID-19 death toll to 24 from 31,208 total cases.

There are 5,069 active cases in Canberra, while 68 patients remain in hospital.

They include three in intensive care, with one on a ventilator, ACT Health reported on Monday.

39.6 per cent of residents over the age of 18 have received their booster shot.

50.6 per cent of children between five and 11 years old have received their first dose after becoming eligible in the second week of January.

Of the 756 new cases, 472 were from PCR tests and 284 from rapid antigen tests.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 15,091 cases and 24 new deaths.

Of the deaths, two people had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, 16 people had received two doses, three people had received one dose and three people were not vaccinated.
