A man has been charged with high-range drink driving after allegedly being caught four times the limit on the Hume Highway near Goulburn earlier this week.
Just after 10.30pm on Tuesday 1 February, NSW police officer officers attached to The Hume Police District were performing speed enforcement duties on the Hume Highway, as part of Operation Australia Day 2022.
Police detected a Volkswagen sedan allegedly travelling at nearly 150km/hr in a 110km/hr sign posted area at the Goulburn Bypass.
Officers stopped the driver – a 28-year-old man – who was subjected to a roadside breath test and returned a positive result.
He was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station, where he underwent a secondary breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.207.
The man’s licence was suspended, and he was charged with drive with high range PCA, and class A motor vehicle exceed speed (more than 30km/h).
The Maroubra man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 16 February.
