Canberra records 1149 new COVID-19 cases

Canberra has recorded 1,149 new COVID-19 cases in the latest update, an increase of 231 on yesterday’s number.

It is the first day over one thousand cases since Friday 1 April, with active infections in the ACT now at 5,491.

The ACT’s total number of infections since the pandemic started stands at 82,940 with 43 virus-related deaths.

There are 42 people in hospital with the virus, four are in the ICU with two requiring ventilation.

ACT COVID-19 vaccination numbers

  • Aged 5-11 (1 dose): 80.4 per cent
  • Aged 5-11 (2 doses): 57.8 per cent
  • Aged 5+ (2 doses): 96.3 per cent*
  • Aged 16+ (3 doses): 73.8 per cent

*ACT Health notes that the ACT residents aged 5 and over with 2 doses has decreased due to a revision in the estimate of the ACT population.
