A great way to lower your environmental footprint, and save money along the way, is to refurbish old furniture that might be on its last legs. With the right equipment and paint, this transformation can be done in just a couple of days.

First, remove any hardware and give your item a good sanding. Wipe down the surface with a damp cloth, then apply an undercoat.

Once the undercoat has dried, give the furniture another light sanding before adding a topcoat. Wait for the first coat to dry, and then add a second.

Now, just reattach your hardware and enjoy your re-vamped furniture!

Your front door can make or break the first impression of your home

A brand-new coat of paint for your front door is such a simple and easy one-day project that can completely transform the vibe of your home.

First, take the door off its hinge and lay it flat on a table or a couple of chairs. Prep the door by removing any hardware, sand down the surface, and wipe with a damp cloth.

The next step is to paint, and you’re done!

Top tip: Make sure to add an undercoat and a topcoat, and check your new paint is compatible with the old paint left on the door.

Add a feature wall to bring style into your space

A quick and painless way to build up your painting skills is through an impactful feature wall!

Choose a quirky and unique option for this DIY, and remember, you don’t have to paint the entire wall to create style.

To prepare, move your furniture away from the wall, lay a drop sheet to protect the floor, and mask up any skirting boards or electrical switches.

First, clean your surface with sugar soap, and then it’s time to start painting. For best results, use a paint roller, making sure it’s been cleaned before you start, to ensure a smooth finish. Paint in a W pattern, and let the magic happen.
