Season so far

GWS Giants 13th â€“ 92.9% | 1228 points for | 1322 points against | 5 wins 10 losses | WLLWL

It’s been a disappointing season for the Giants altogether, but they have shown improvement since Mark McVeigh took over as coach six weeks ago.

After competitive losses to the Dogs and Magpies, GWS were too strong for the Hawks in tough conditions last week.

They are clearly playing with more freedom under McVeigh and they’ll be looking to upset a few teams on the run home.

Port Adelaide Power 12th â€“ 103.9% | 1149 points for | 1106 points against | 7 wins 8 losses | LWWLW

A poor start to the season has seen the Power chasing their tails to catch up and has left them needing to be almost perfect to make finals from here.

They’ve certainly shown they can compete against other finals contenders with good wins over Sydney and Gold Coast as well as close losses to Richmond and Freo.

With Melbourne and Geelong to come in the next two weeks, Port simply must win this one.

Last 5 meetings and Adelaide Oval history

  • 2021 round 20: Giants 11.7 (73) lost to Power 15.10 (100) at Marvel Stadium
  • 2020 round 6: Power 9.9 (63) defeated Giants 6.10 (46) at Metricon Stadium
  • 2019 round 19: Power 7.13 (55) lost to Giants 8.8 (56) at Adelaide Oval
  • 2018 round 18: Power 8.10 (58) lost to Giants 11.14 (80) at Adelaide Oval
  • 2017 round 4: Giants 16.16 (112) defeated Power 11.15 (81) at Manuka Oval

GWS have won three of the last five clashes, however Port have won the last two.

Port were far too good for the Giants in last year’s clash, claiming a 27-point win in an empty Marvel Stadium

The Giants have a terrific record against Port at Adelaide Oval having won three of the four meetings at the venue, including the last three in a row.
