Sustainable Household Scheme loans for community groups

Not-for-profit community groups in the ACT can now apply for zero interest loans for up to $15,000 through the Sustainable Household Scheme.

Eligible community groups can use the loans to make sustainable upgrades to their premises or to purchase an electric vehicle to reduce energy costs and the impact of greenhouse gas emissions in the ACT.

Groups can choose to purchase one or more eligible products, with a maximum loan term of up to 10 years.

“The scheme has been hugely successful in ensuring more Canberrans benefit from a net zero emission future,” Chief Minister Andrew Barr, Minister for Climate Action, said. “The expansion of the scheme will help community organisations make small and large changes that can lead to positive impacts for the organisation and our community.”

Credit is provided by Brighte Capital Pty Ltd (ABN 74 609 165 906). Australian Credit License Number 508217. All applications are subject to Brighte’s credit approval criteria. Fees, Terms and Conditions apply.

“The ACT sustainable household scheme has been hugely popular,” said Katherine McConnell, founder and CEO of Brighte. “We’re delighted to welcome community organisations who want to upgrade their premises with solar and sustainable equipment to now participate in the scheme and help bring sustainable benefits back to their communities.

“Solar is the gateway to reduce energy bills and make more sustainable choices for the environment and the communities in which we live.”

More than 7,000 households have already applied for a loan through the Scheme to help with the upfront costs of investing in sustainable products. These upgrades include rooftop solar panels, household battery storage, zero emission vehicles, and efficient electric household appliances.

Visit the Everyday Climate Choices website to read the terms and conditions and guidelines or to apply for a loan.
