Brumbies add Jack Debreczeni to 2023 squad

The ACT Brumbies have announced the signing of experienced flyhalf Jack Debreczeni for the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Debreczeni will add to the Brumbies playmaking depth in what will be Stephen Larkham’s first season back as head coach, the 29-year-old having amassed 61 caps in Super Rugby with the Melbourne Rebels and the Chiefs.

Known for his excellent kicking game, Debreczeni recently returned to Australia after finishing up his time with the Hino Red Dolphins in Japan’s Top League and has been lining out for West Harbour in Sydney’s Shute Shield.

Debreczeni said he was looking forward to returning to Super Rugby and working under Larkham.

“It’s great to be back in Super Rugby and to be joining an awesome club like the Brumbies,” he said.

“Working with Steve is obviously an amazing opportunity and I’m looking forward to seeing how I can learn from and contribute to the team with guys like Noah, Nic White there as well.

“The group there have been playing some great rugby and it’s a place that is known for getting the best out of guys so I’m excited to get started.“

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham said it’s great for the club to add a player of Debreczeni’s quality.

“It’s fantastic for us to be able to bring in a player of Jack’s experience,” Larkham said.

“Jack’s been a professional for a long time, knows what’s required at this level and he’s keen to continue to develop and soak up everything the Brumbies have to offer.

“Depth is critical in the modern game and Jack will be a great addition to the group.”
