Woman killed by train after mobility scooter fall in Melbourne

A woman has died after falling from her mobility scooter and being hit by a train in Melbourne.

Police and paramedics were called to Ormond railway station in the city’s southeast at about 10am on Friday.

The 56-year-old woman was taken to Alfred Hospital in a critical condition but later died of her injuries.

Police investigating the death will prepare a report for the coroner.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and is yet to speak to police has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Train services have been restored between Caulfield and Moorabbin after being suspended for several hours.
