Trading hours for Access Canberra Service Centres will change over the festive season, the ACT Government reminds the community.

From 3pm on Friday 23 December, the Service Centres in Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden, and Belconnen and the Specialised Service Centres in Dickson, Mitchell, and Hume will be closed.

•           The Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Woden, and Belconnen Service Centres will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

•           The Dickson Specialised Service Centre will reopen for bookable appointments only from 9am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

•           The Hume Motor Vehicle Inspection Station will reopen at 8am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

•           The Mitchell Land, Planning and Building Services Specialised Centre will reopen at 8.30am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

The Access Canberra Contact Centre (13 22 81) will have reduced hours over the festive season, such as on Christmas Day. However, calls will still be answered for urgent public safety issues like road maintenance, fallen trees, dog attacks, or injured wildlife and environment protection.

“With many ACT Government services closed or on reduced hours during the holiday period, there has never been a better time to complete your services and transactions online,” Tara Cheyne MLA said.

You only need to visit an Access Canberra Service Centre for transactions that require a photo, such as a new driver’s licence, proof of identity, or a Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card, or to arrange new number plates for new registrations, transfer of registration, or custom plates.

All other Access Canberra transactions can be completed online, including:

•           Motor vehicle registration and renewal

•           Driver licence renewals

•           Managing traffic and parking infringements

•           Updating a Working with Vulnerable People registration.

Canberrans can call Access Canberra on 13 22 81 if they need assistance with any transaction or have any difficulties completing an online transaction.

Canberrans should plan ahead if they need to complete a transaction in person. Estimated wait times are available on the Access Canberra website. Peak times are usually Mondays, Fridays, and lunchtime. You may like to plan your visit outside of these times.

Other ACT Government services will be closed or have restricted opening hours during the festive season.
