From 6pm tonight, ACT residents who have been in Greater Melbourne in the last 14 days must complete an online declaration form, under new travel requirements announced today.
Non-ACT residents who have been in a close contact exposure location won’t be able to enter the ACT without an approved exemption prior to travel.
The ACT Government has put in place the new travel requirements after Victoria recorded its fifth locally acquired case and announced restrictions including limiting public gatherings.
ACT Health is advising anyone who has been in the Greater Melbourne area in the past fortnight to check the COVID-19 areas of concern.
Those who have attended a close contact location must contact ACT Health, get tested for COVID-19 and quarantine for 14 days even if they have a negative test result.
Those have been at a casual contact exposure location must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
In a statement, ACT Health said Greater Melbourne would also be declared a geographical area of risk and, as a result, staff, visitors and volunteers in high-risk settings such as hospitals and aged care facilities should not visit or attend work for 14 days.
“Further, staff returning from Greater Melbourne who provide home-based aged care and disability services that involve close physical contact with clients, should exclude themselves from providing in-home care for a period of 14 days since they were last in the area.”
The ACT had previously lifted its travel restrictions with Victoria on Monday, before the new cases were recorded.
