UPDATE 30/3: ACT records first coronavirus death
There have been six new confirmed cases of Coronavirus COVID-19, bringing the ACT’s total to 77 as at 29 March 12.12pm.
The new cases include four males and two females, aged between 19 and 82.
ACT Health is undertaking thorough contact tracing but can confirm that three of the new cases are linked to overseas travel, two are close contacts of confirmed cases and one is currently under investigation by Health Protection Services.
There remains no evidence of local transmission in the ACT.
There have been 4,230 negative COVID-19 tests in the ACT to date.
There are currently six COVID-19 patients in Canberra hospitals. The rest are isolating at home with ACT Health support.
A total of two cases have recovered from COVID-19 and have been released from self-isolation.
ACT Health is continuing to take appropriate public health action in line with national guidelines.
Nationally, there have been 3,809 confirmed cased of COVID-19 in Australia as at 6am today, Sunday 29 March, an increase of 431 new cases in the past 24 hours, since 6am yesterday.
Of the 3,809 confirmed cases in Australia, 14 have died from COVID-19. More than 209,000 tests have been conducted across Australia.
