ACT grants for sports organisations open

Applications for the ACT Government’s 2024 Sport and Recreation Investment Scheme are now open.

The Scheme provides grants not-for-profit sport, recreation and community organisations to develop fit for purpose, sustainable and accessible spaces for sport and active recreation.

Yvette Berry, ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation, said: “Canberrans play more sport than any other community in Australia. Supporting local clubs means that even more Canberrans get a chance to play the sport they love.

“I encourage sporting associations and community groups to throw their hat in the ring.”

Several local clubs and organisations have already received grants under the program.

The Melba Tennis Club received $80,000 for a court conversion and maintenance, and the Canberra Rowing Club received $1.3 million, to add to the $860,000 they had fundraised, to construct a boathouse with better facilities enabling the club to provide new programs for school students and para-athletes.

Applications close at midday on 15 March.
